Cars of the G-Ball
Last night I met paths with the Gumball 3000 crew in Vegas at the Hard Rock. Nixon sponsored this event which I was super stoked on since I have been a loyal follower for the past few years. When I heard "Sponsored", I figured small logo that could not be seen by the naked eye. Not the case. As you will see by the following pictures, we had some major coverage.
I was extremely amped on the fact that our "Team Nixon" car was none other than Todd Richards' Audi RS4 Avant. He was only supposed to drive the first leg, all of the US stops. However, yesterday about an hour out of San Diego, en route to Sin City, he had some major engine malfunctions resulting in pulling out of the rally. Super, super bummed. However my boy Brandon at Nixon and another one of our team members, Mike Escamilla, met us up for some dinner and Gumball Awards/Party action. It was a fun little night. Enjoy these shots, I was not stoked that I was too late to get daytime pictures.

There was some definite Douche Bagerry. Brandon overheard the owner of this Lambo saying that he put those antennas on because it made it look like an RC Car. Really Bro?

I can only imagine how this convo went. Bam: "Spy paid to sponsor this thing. What fags. Good thing I have some Electric stickers to put all over this thing."

Completely murdered out Ford GT. Red and White car in the background is a Bugatti Veyron. If you don't know what that is, type it into Google.

Sickest paint job by far.

Gumball 3000
They're back......and by "They" I mean the boys from the Gumball 3000. I dont follow too many events but this is one that I try to follow every year.

For those of you that have no idea what I am talking about, the Gumball 3000 is an event that started out as a 3,000 mile coast to coast car rally in 3 days. It has now morphed into a highly publicized, intercontinental, car rally/super party. Plus, NIXON is sponsoring it this year.
It starts this Saturday in San Fran and ends eight days later in Beijing. Check Gumball 3000 for a little more info, or watch one of the videos below. Needless to say, shit is ill! I piggybacked a leg in 2006 from SLC to Sin City in my S4. So fun!! Here were a few of the cars. If you happen to be in Vegas on Monday night, stop by the Hard Rock to check out the cars. See you there.

DMV Day, not by choice.
I have had a motorcycle for about two years now. I guess I never really planned on getting a proper licence to be a motorcycle operator, must be the rebel in me. I am going to my good friend Tanner's wedding at the end of this month. Tanner, Brendan, and I came up with the idea of renting bikes for a day while we are on Kauai. What an amazing idea right? Only catch is that you have to have a motorcycle endorsement on your DL. Awesome! After some discussion we all found a morning that would work for us to go get legalized.
We arrived at the local DMV this morning and the below footage is great documentation of what went down:
Tanner doesn't have a bike yet, and Brendan is in the midst of a full resto on an old Triumph, so we all rode the Ducati. Brendan and I went and took the written test last week and Tanner was lagging so he took it this morning. Once outside we met our instructor who happened to be super cool. She let us cruise around and practice a few times. Pretty simple shit here: U-turn within the lines, sharp left within the lines, Stop within the box, weave through the cones. It was a great time to say the least. I was surprised when she told me how many people not only fail, but drop their bikes. What?! Regardless, we all passed.Tanner ended up hitting a cone and still had no issues. It was hilarious and if this was any indication of what it will be like in Hawaii I am stoked!

Brendan hits a cone and Tanner is heckling like theres no tomorrow.

She's Back..........
and loud as eff! The Duc is ready to ride again, got her freshened up with a new battery and she was stoked to get back on the road.
About two years ago I bought the Ducati as my virgin entrance into the world of street bikes. I hate crotch rockets and couldn't find an American bike that I was stoked on at the time. Everyone knows that I love European styling and performance, so it only seemed right to choose Ducati. I immediately fell in love with this thing because of its bare bones cafe racer styling and the aesthetic potential that it had. I haven't been able to spend too much time working on it, and now that I have the Harley its been even less, but the subtle mods that I have added made a huge difference.
This is how she looked the day I brought her home. First thing to go was the stupid "Mickey Mouse" mirrors. Next was the stock, quiet, and heavy exhaust system.

Here we are, two years later and this is what she looks like. No huge mirrors, no big exhaust cans, and no tray with a massive taillight and turn signals. I chopped about three inches off the rear of the frame to tighten/clean up the look of the rear end. Stoked to say the least.

Ever since the purchase of this bike I had big ideas for a custom exhaust. These things can run in upwards of a $1,000. After some deep research I decided to save some change and "go my own way", Fleetwood Mac style. Straight Pipes Bitches!!!
Here is a quick clip of how mean this thing sounds now. Needless to say, stoked.
Look tomorrow for an update of our on road Motorcycle License test. Hopefully we pass(crossing fingers).

Another two-dayer in SoCal
Had to go down to Dana Point on Thursday night for a quick one day Electric Sales Meeting. I decided to ride my bike, gnarly to say the least.
I used to pack so much shit on trips. I have had to change to a minimalist outlook when space is at a minimum.
First 3 hours of the ride it was HOT to say the least. I barely made it to Blythe without being overcome with heatstroke. I went inside the Gas station and immediately sweat came out of every pore on my body. It was kind of creepy. I literally walked in the place bone dry and out soaking wet.

I made it to Dana Point on Thursday night, meeting all day Friday, then over to Bruce Beach's(Co-Founder of Electric) House to have a company BBQ. Horrible view from his deck if I do say so myself.

After some burgers and Cervezas, we were off to celebrate Kenna's 26th! She killed it. Garrett and Kenna are just about the raddest couple I have ever run into.
Amber "Chico", some creepy looking guy, and Kenna just waiting for the Hipster Dance Attack begin.
It only took Andrew about 42 drinks to get out on the dance floor.

We ran into this crazy pack of deers on the way back to our car. They were kind enough to stay still for a photo op.
After a solid Birthday night I woke up Saturday and headed down to Vista to help my compadre Landman lower his bike. We had to stop at Harbor Freight to grab a motorcycle lift and I found a crescent wrench that should fix everything.
Little test ride after the drop kit was installed.
We worked out a little trade deal, I help with the bike, you make me a killer burger and teach me to play an import back yard game, Bocce it was.

Mr. and Mrs. Landman, great hosts, great friends. Thanks again.

I left to ride home at 8:30PM last night, ran out of gas about 75 miles in, no gas station for miles. That only wasted about 2 hours. Finally got in around 3:30AM. Epic trip!
